New Year 2003

Our New Year trip this year was from Barton Turns to Coventry and back (well almost back - see below). Here Copperkins is moored in Coventry Basin on New Year's Eve.

After a very wet start to the week, the weather gradually improved. Susan was steering as we passed BW's Hartshill yard.

Back at Fazley and the cold weather started, even a light fall of snow.

We arrived at Alrewas on Saturday to find the river still closed to navigation due to flooding. Peter, Elaine and Ian joined us for a very enjoyable lunch at The Crown and some very good beer.

This is taken on the Sunday morning as I walked back to Barton Turns to fetch the car. The river was still flowing fast, but did open again later in the day, though with the channel partly obstructed we decided not to risk a passage. Many thanks to Elaine for returning Copperkins safely to the marina on the Tuesday.
